As part of a series of events to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month on campus, the Office of Hispanic Initiatives (OHI) and the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers recently organized the second annual Mini World Cup at Georgia Tech.

On January 13, MLK Lecture Keynote Speaker Jeffrey Johnson delivered an inspiring speech to nearly 500 students, faculty, staff, and community members in the Student Center Ballroom.

For 25 years, Georgia Tech has offered the Focus graduate recruitment program on the same weekend that the nation celebrates the life and work of Martin Luther King Jr.

During Georgia Tech’s Black History Month Lecture on February 11, presented by Institute Diversity and AASU, Benjamin Crump delivered a keynote speech on “The Criminal Justice System, #BlackLivesMatter, and College Student Activism Today.”

Of the more than 1,200 students who were eligible to receive a 2016 Tower Award, more than 200 students gathered for the annual recognition ceremony, hosted by OMED: Educational Services, on April 7 at the Georgia Tech Hotel and Conference Center.

This month, the Center for Student Diversity and Inclusion launches to provide more programs and pathways to success for underrepresented students on campus.

The Black Student Experience Task Force presented its 11 recommendations to President G.P. “Bud” Peterson late last spring. All recommendations were approved and will be implemented over the next three academic years.

During Georgia Tech’s MLK Lecture on January 11, Bakari Sellers, CNN political analyst, lawyer, and activist, honored Dr. King’s legacy while setting the agenda for the next civil rights movement with students, faculty, staff, and community members.

During the weekend commemorating the life and inspiration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., 76 students and 24 faculty and staff from Georgia Tech traveled to Washington, D.C., to tour several civil rights sites.
